Extractions & Oral Surgrery
The removal of teeth was the main treatment of early dentistry. Today we are able to save most teeth from this fate. There are times however when teeth should be extracted. Some of the indications for tooth removal are partial or total impacted wisdom teeth, chronically infected wisdom teeth, non-restorable teeth due to decay or fracture, loose teeth due to advanced periodontal disease and to make an implant case plausible. There are additional times when extractions are needed and they all have to be evaluated by the dentist.
With today's local or I.V. sedation anesthesia tooth removal is painless. New instruments make removal less traumatic, with faster healing. If we feel that the extraction is difficult we will refer you to a local Board Certified Oral Surgeon that we feel can complete the treatment in your best interest. We also may refer you to a Surgeon if you need other operative procedures such as a biopsy, repair of a root canal, bone removal for the fit of a denture or to place an implant. All of this is completed in your best interest.
