Bridges
Bridges are a multiple of crowns (caps) that are connected together and have false teeth between (the teeth that you are missing). Your teeth are the supports for the missing teeth. A bridge may be as small as 3 teeth and as large as an entire arch including all the teeth. A bridge is more complicated than a single crown and takes more visits to complete.
Materials used for a bridge are similar to a crown. It can be fabricated in gold, porcelain fused to high noble metals or all high strength porcelain. The choice of materials depends on the strength needed, number of missing teeth and esthetics.
It is important to replace missing teeth since teeth next to and above or below a space will drift and make doing a bridge much more difficult and complicated. The change in position of teeth can also initiate periodontal (gum) disease.
